Halyard is currently looking for finished, novel-length works in the following genres:

• General Fiction
• Paranormal
• Young Adult
• Science Fiction
• Fantasy
• Historical Fiction

At least, those are the hard and fast genres we’re willing to accept, but if you want to know what gets a second and third look, we’re looking for genre benders. Sprinkle a little scifi in your litfic. Add a dash of historical-economic perspective to your fantasy. Set your techno-thriller in the 8th Century. Invent. Write something that isn’t Another YA or Another Fantasy Trilogy. We call it “Genre with a Twist.”

Halyard only takes queries via e-mail. Please do not send queries via snail mail. We don’t accept full manuscripts unless explicitly requested. Trust us, this is good for everyone: you don’t have to spend on printing and mailing, our shelves don’t collapse, trees live, global warming is avoided, our e-mail inboxes are of manageable sizes, hooray! Send a query (NOT your manuscript) to submissions@halyardagency.com, being sure to include the following information:

• Author’s Name
• Contact Information
• Book Title
• Genre
• Word Count
• Plot Summary

Any other information you choose to provide is optional, but do please keep the length of the entire query to a single printed page. It’s incredibly hard to condense your work down to so few words, but all we need is a general idea of what you have to offer.
